Member Ambassador

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

As a member ambassador you will spread the word about what we do. Your experience as a Crisis member means you can speak from experience to help us to promote our services to a variety of audiences including partner agencies and other members. You will engage with a variety of people, presenting your talk and attending meetings with Crisis staff. 





  • Be a current member of Crisis and engaging with Crisis regularly for 3 months/one term and have the support of a Crisis coach
  • Have personal experience of homelessness or being at risk of homelessness
  • Willing to use your experience of coming to Crisis to raise awareness of homelessness and prote our work
  • Be passionate about the work of Crisis
  • Have basic communication skills and a minimum level of spoken English (entry level 2 or above)
  • Have an interest in speaking in front of people
  • Able to listen and engage with a range of people and have an empathetic approach
  • Able to commit to the role, including attending all training
  • Reliable


  • Experience in a national homelessness charity

  • To take part in activities to encourage members and potential members to access Crisis services and activities
  • To talk to potential volunteers and be involved in new staff, volunteer and member inductions
  • To provide feedback to Crisis on activities you take part in as part of the ambassador role
  • There may also be opportunities to deliver talks and attend events with a fundraising or campaigning focus


We expect volunteers to comply with Crisis policies including health and safety, data protection and code of conduct at all times.

  • Travel and lunch expenses are reimbursed where appropriate
  • We strive to ensure that our services are welcoming, remain relevant and are fully accessible to everyone that we help and support. We are particularly welcoming of volunteers from diverse and other marginalised communities, as this helps us ensure the best experience for those that we are here to help.  This role is only for Crisis members.
