Photography Learning Assistant - Swansea

Location: Swansea

When: 4-6 weeks with possibility to continue

Role reports to: Arts Coordinator

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

Making a real difference in the lives of our members by helping them work towards gaining skills, ensuring that they are empowered to leave homelessness behind for good. You will do this by providing support to the class tutor as well as the Crisis members who attend the class. This could involve helping out with small groups or one-to-one support with individual members. 

This is a problem that affects us all in society and you can be part of the solution.

 

  • A solid knowledge on how to operate a professional camera and a variety of phones to take and edit photos
  • Understanding of basic photography techniques 
  • Some experience and/or a keen interest in photography and the arts
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others,  follow instructions and as part of a team 
  • Enthusiasm, patience and respect for others
  • Good timekeeping, attendance and communication skills
  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality and maintaining boundaries in professional environment  
  • Be positive, productive and have a passion to help end homelessness
  • Ability to commit to 4-6 week photography weekly sessions
  • Workplace experience in a national organisation
  • Complete induction to the photography role and training around the work Crisis does 
  • The opportunity to share existing or develop new skills in a friendly and supportive environment

  • Regular meetings with your supervisor to discuss how your volunteering is going and what other opportunities and training may be available to you together with an induction

  • With direction from the tutor, support members to engage with the session and where appropriate use your initiative to support members 
  • If applicable, to help set up equipment before the workshop and help clear up equipment after the workshop has finished 
  • Feedback any challenges or opportunities that arise during session to the class tutor 
  • A solid knowledge on how to operate a professional camera or one of our phones to produce high quality pictures 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others,  follow instructions and as part of a team

We expect volunteers to comply with Crisis policies including health and safety, data protection and code of conduct at all times.

  • Travel and lunch expenses are reimbursed where appropriate
