Design Support Volunteer (remote)

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

When: 3-5 hours per week flexible during office hours (Mon-Fri 9am - 4.30pm)

Role reports to: Events Coordinator

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

Helping to promote the work of Crisis internally and externally through creating original content and supporting staff with design software/design ideas to raise awareness of homelessness and our service offer. 

 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of design software such as Indesign, Photoshop and Canva

  • Ability to take initiative in the role and work independently when required
  • Flexibility in terms of the tasks you are asked to undertake and ability to manage own tasks
  • Willingness to learn Crisis website editing software
  • Good time keeping, attendance and listening skills

  • Non-judgemental, patient and friendly
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and maintaining boundaries

  • A commitment to ending homelessness and delivering a high-quality service for members

 

  • Experience volunteering in a national organisation helping homeless people
  • Regular meetings with your supervisor to discuss how your volunteering is going and what other opportunities and training may be available to you together with an induction

  • To work on specific design briefs planned by the Crisis Newcastle team
  • Follow Crisis Branding Guidelines to create original content for use internally and externally
  • Liaise with Crisis staff on design ideas and content
  • Support staff with design ideas and teaching basic editing skills
  • Researching and identifying other key media/PR opportunities
  • To take images/videos of evets and ensure consent to share is gained and stored according to Crisis policy
  • To attend planning meetings with key members of staff to plan publicity for events
  • To attend key date events run by Crisis in your area
  • To promote Crisis Skylight Newcastle events on internal social media (Yammer & Connect)
