Money Management Volunteer Tutor

Location: London

When: 4+ hours per week, Mondays and Wednesdays (flexible)

Role reports to: Tutor

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

Delivering Money Management courses to groups of members and/or individually to help them better understand and manage their personal finances by gaining knowledge of spending habits, expenses, household bills, budgeting and cashflow.

  • Someone with a background in Finance, Banking, Bookkeeping or Accounting and, preferably, previous experience providing Money Management/Budgeting advice 
  • Confidence interacting with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds including those with English as a second language 
  • Friendly, polite and enthusiastic as well as patient and non-judgmental
  • Able to recognise discord and conflict and remain calm in challenging situations
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and maintaining boundaries 
  • Reliable and good time-keeping
  • Passionate about ending homelessness
  • Workplace experience in a national organisation

  • Full induction and training for the role followed by support from a dedicated Volunteer Supervisor

  • With direction from the Volunteer Supervisor, deliver Money Management courses to members on 1-2-1 and group bases
  • Course administration, including preparing materials/resources and contacting members between sessions
  • Set up before sessions and clear up afterwards
  • Motivate members of all abilities to actively participate in sessions
  • Collect members from Reception and chat to them during breaks
  • Help maintain a COVID secure area
  • Feed back any challenges or opportunities that arise during sessions to the class tutor 
  • Following a successful interview, two references will be obtained and an Enhanced DBS check conducted
  • Compulsory e-learning and training must be completed before starting in role 
  • A Crisis IT account will be issued for this role 
  • Volunteers must comply with Crisis policies, including health and safety, IT, data protection and code of conduct, at all times 
  • Out of pocket travel expenses will be reimbursed on production of receipts and one lunch voucher for the Crisis café will be provided per week
