You will contribute to ending homelessness by
Using your experience of our services to play an active part in the recruitment process of our staff and volunteers; helping us to ensure that we recruit the right people into our teams. Your personal experience of accessing our services, alongside your lived experience makes your voice a vital part of our recruitment in helping us to ensure that the people we recruit live our values and understand the needs of those experiencing homelessness to be able to deliver our services effectively. You will have training and support to be involved in interview panels and use this and your knowledge to assess the suitability of candidates for the role. Your assessment will be used as additional information to inform the final decision of the chair of the interview panel when appointing.
Due to the current situation, you may be asked to complete training, prepare interview questions and conduct the interview virtually. Your Volunteer Coordinator/Member Involvement Coordinator will advise you of the processes being followed and support you throughout.
- Be a current member of Crisis and have experience of different Crisis classes and/or services
- Ability to make decisions in a non-discriminatory and non-judgmental way
- Ability to ask relevant and appropriate questions
- Ability to weigh up and assess the quality of candidate’s responses in line with the role description and listen to other panel members’ perspectives
- Ability to take part in the interview process and understand the role of and maintain confidentiality
- Good literacy skills to be able to read questions and write notes
- Ability to use virtual technology such as Zoom or willingness to learn how to use this technology
- Good timekeeping and reliability
- Enthusiasm and commitment to the role and to complete training and preparation sessions, including relevant e-learning
- Be positive, productive and have a passion to help end homelessness
- Workplace experience in a national organisation

- Asking the candidates (people being interviewed) relevant questions that will help them to demonstrate their ability to do the job in line with the role description
- Together with other members of the interview panel assess each candidate’s suitability for the role
- Completion of relevant paperwork
- Feedback your assessment to the chair of the interview panel
- Maintain confidentiality of the candidates and work within appropriate boundaries (for example if a candidate is known to you)
