Coffee Champion Volunteer

Location: London

When: Ideal time commitment: Mon-Sun 09.00 – 16.00 (1 or 2 days a week), from now - August 2021

Role reports to: Training Coordinator

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

The Crisis café operates from inside the Crisis charity shop (Shop from Crisis) and sells high quality hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes and snacks.

The Shop from Crisis sells donated goods sourced from the local community.

Crisis works with the local communities and volunteers to develop shops and cafes that customers like and that engage people with the Crisis mission and advocate for homeless people across the UK.

You will be volunteering in the Crisis café serving supporting the development of our coffee and hospitality offer in our coffee bars.

You will help us to generate income, make links in the local community and make sure the coffee bars are safe, vibrant and interactive places to train our members.

  • References for prospective employers (for character reference minimum of three months of volunteering)
  • Travel expenses (within Greater London) reimbursed. Lunch expenses paid if you volunteer for one day.
  • Hands on, practical work in the Charity Sector in a national organisation
  • The opportunity to share existing or develop new skills in a friendly and supportive environment
  • Regular meetings with your supervisor to discuss how your volunteering is going and what other opportunities and training may be available to you together with an induction
  • Deliver hygienic and efficient production and presentation of all food and drink products served at the shop’s café
  • To follow food safety and food hygiene at all times
  • Making excellent coffee using the Crisis Blend
  • Interacting with customers about Crisis’ work
  • Liaising with and feeding back to the Hospitality manager with comments, suggestions and ideas to further improve our impact 
  • Engaging the local community with Crisis Coffee and hospitality skills
